Minimum Requirements:

Position Description:
The Academic Support Specialist III is responsible for assessing student readiness for practicum; preparing students for the practicum placement process and determining appropriate placement options for students. The position is responsible for recruiting and onboarding qualified practicum sites and social work practicum instructors. Candidate will collaborate with the Director of Practicum Education to plan, create, and conduct practicum education program orientations, trainings, and events for students, agency practicum instructors, and practicum faculty.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Process student applications for practicum; including advising students on practicum opportunities, navigating students through the referral, interviewing, and placement confirmation process.
- Secure required documentation from students, practicum instructors and task supervisors and community organizations.
- Conduct conflict resolution strategies and crisis management with students, agency practicum instructors, and practicum faculty to mediate and negotiate placement concerns, placement disruptions and refer students for additional support.
- Identify, recruit, evaluate, and onboard appropriate regional, national, international and military organizations and agency practicum instructors for student placements including marketing the University to prospective agencies.
- Maintain accurate and current information about placement sites and assigned students listed in the practicum tracking software program including entering regularly contacts, documenting process and updating data as needed.
- Conduct offsite practicum supervision for assigned students; a minimum of 1 hour weekly as needed.
- Mentor new practicum faculty as assigned by providing consultation and resources monthly and as needed.
- Plan, create, and conduct assigned curriculum and modules for face-face and online orientations, trainings and events for students, agency practicum instructors, and practicum faculty(liaisons) offered by the Practicum Education Office.
- Coordinate and facilitate needed Practicum Professional Standards Review Panels, completing required documentation.
- Attend and participate in University, Kent School, and Community meetings and committees, as well as events on behalf of the Practicum Education office.
- Complete other duties as assigned
Requires occasional travel between University buildings and in the community to meet with others.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in social work, plus two years of related experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Publisher.
- At least two years' experience as a practicum instructor or practicum liaison.
- Two years' post-masters experience for all practice courses

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
