Located inGreater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college,offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses inWellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts. 
Position Summary:
MassBay Community College is seeking a part-timeCommunication faculty member to join the Division of Humanities and SocialSciences and teach a variety of in-person, first-year courses, including OralCommunication, on site at our Early College high school partners at WalthamHigh School, Framingham High School, and Milford High School. The opportunityto teach multiple sections across partner sites is available.
Early CollegePathways adjunct instructorsmust be committed to working with high school-aged students and to teachingcollege classes in high schools across the region and/or at one of the MassBaycampus locations. Early College Pathways adjunct instructors will attend anEarly College faculty orientation and participate in ongoing professionaldevelopment throughout the year. Please note: Teaching schedules may vary byschool district but are primarily daytime hours between 7:00 am to 4:00 pm,with some limited availability of late afternoon/early evening or weekendassignments.
The ideal candidate willjoin a vibrant educational community, and have a desire and ability to serve apopulation of students with various needs and backgrounds, and becommitted to the following college-wide goals: fostering a learner-centered environment that reflects best practices,establishing rigorous curricula and relevant programs of study to promotestudent success, and cultivating a culture of civility, collaboration,inclusion, and respect for individual differences and perspectives. Our adjunctinstructors hold a master's degree in a related discipline and have obtainedappropriate certification and/or licensure where applicable.
Faculty areresponsible for developing educational and evaluation materials consistent withthe philosophy and framework of the program, MassBay Community College, and, ifapplicable, accreditation, licensure, and specialty requirements, and formaintaining current expertise in the discipline.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Teach high school students at area high schools, including Framingham, Waltham, and/or Milford;
- Provide instruction during high school hours of operation when necessary;
- Work in collaboration with MassBay and/or high school faculty and others to prepare syllabi and develop curricula in alignment with the vision and needs of the College, high schools and early college initiatives;
- Meet students regularly at the posted class times and teach assigned courses using effective instructional strategies that promote student learning and preparation;
- Use appropriate assessment methods consistently and regularly to measure student understanding in line with accreditation and College standards;
- Engage in professional development activities to learn current practices concerning education generally and early college initiatives;
- Utilize the appropriate learning management system for either the College or high school as needed;
- Attend meetings and submit reports or information as requested consistent with the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement;
- Maintain excellent communication with students, department, and division staff throughout the semester;
- Submit syllabi, midterm and final grade reports, attendance records, early alerts, and other reports pertaining to assigned courses by required due dates;
- Carry out other related duties as assigned by the College, high school, and/or early college liaisons consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and college policies, practices, and proceedures.

Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Communication and/or substantial work experience in communication field;
- A minimum of two years of relevant, full-time teaching experience, or the equivalent part-time experience; 
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills; 
- Demonstrated ability to use learning management systems effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action;
- Experience working in a community college or similar environment;
- Demonstrated commitment to working with students in need;
- Community College, high school, or equivalent teaching experience strongly preferred; 
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with English language learners and at-opportunity students;
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement a curriculum that develops the reading, writing, and critical thinking skills of students and to use culturally
- responsive and inclusive perspectives; 
- Demonstrated ability to use a variety of teaching and assessment strategies to promote and evaluate student learning;
- Demonstrated interest in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $1,397.00 - 1,585.00 DCE Per Credit
