Program Overview
The UC San Diego Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Fellowship Program is a 2-year, ACGME-accredited training program that provides comprehensive education in the care of adults with congenital heart disease.
This fellowship is designed to train future leaders in ACHD through hands-on clinical experience, multidisciplinary collaboration, advanced imaging training, and active participation in research and quality improvement initiatives.
 
Program Highlights
Multidisciplinary ACHD care including complex congenital heart disease
Advanced imaging: echocardiography, cardiac MRI, CT angiography
Interventional and diagnostic procedures including:
Catheter-based interventions
Electrophysiology studies
Interventional echocardiography
Participation in ACHD continuity clinics, surgical and ICU services
Pediatric and adult cardiology rotations as per ACGME requirements for trainees of various backgrounds
Cardio-Pregnancy Multidisciplinary Care
Genetic Aortopathy Clinic
Dedicated pathways for candidates interested in advanced training in research, advanced imaging, interventional ACHD, heart failure and transplantation, interventional echocardiography, or electrophysiology

Multidisciplinary Cardio-Pregnancy Conference
 
Research & Scholarly Activity
Each fellow is assigned a research project with ACHD faculty mentorship
Dedicated pathway for a physician-scientist or clinical outcomes research pathway leveraging the Longitudinal ACHD Surveillance Study
Opportunities to participate in:
Clinical trials
Quality improvement initiatives
Process improvement projects

Requirements
Applicants must have completed:
ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine, or Internal Medicine & Pediatrics, or Pediatrics residency, and
ACGME General Adult or Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship
