Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Department of Creative Arts, which houses the Design program at Wheaton College,
seeks an instructor to teach Graphic Design 2 for the Spring semester. The course is scheduled to run Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-7:20 from January 20-May 1 2026 and is enrolled with about ten students.
Course Description
Graphic Design 2 is the second part of a year-long course exploring a problem-solving approach to graphic design, with a major focus on the concept of design as visual communication. You will be challenged to arrive at original solutions in the context of more comprehensive problems expanding on the principles of typography, layout and visual imagery learned in Graphic Design I. Prerequisites for this course are Art 111: Two-Dimensional Design and Art 250: Graphic Design I.

Additional Information:
- Students in GD2 have prior experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, at a minimum.
- Wheaton college uses the Canvas Learning Management System for all courses. Posting a syllabus, assignments and grades in Canvas is required.

Minimum Qualifications:
MFA or MDes in Graphic Design, Visual Communication Design, or a related major and 2+ years professional experience or a BFA in Graphic Design and 4+ years of professional design experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Teaching experience is preferred but not required.

When determining and establishing hiring rates or recruitment ranges for a position, the College considers a number of factors including the budget for the position, the range of the grade, the external market for the position or similar positions, level and scope of responsibilities, required education, skills and relevant experience as well as internal equity. All salary offers must have the prior approval of the Office of Human Resources.
The anticipated hiring salary for this course is $5,000.
