What You Will Do
- Plan, program, budget, and supervise the maintenance of campus buildings and structures at Edwardsville.
- Analyze existing conditions, determine appropriate measures, and supervise maintenance or repair work.
- Support the Assistant Directors for Utilities and Alton & East St. Louis Operations with assigned staff and resources in maintaining building HVAC, fire protection, and other systems.
- Support the maintenance of exterior utility systems on all campuses.
- Support the maintenance of buildings and structures at the Alton and East St. Louis campuses.
- Define scope, estimate costs, and plan maintenance, repair, and alteration projects.
- Provide on-going project management for maintenance, repair, and alteration projects.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
1. Any one or combination totaling three (3) years (36 months) from the categories below:
A. Coursework in engineering or architecture, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
- 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
- Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
- 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
- Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
B. Work experience in the construction and maintenance of industrial, public, or institutional buildings.
2. Three (3) years (36 months) of work experience in the construction and maintenance of industrial, public, or institutional buildings.
3. Additional two (2) years (24 months) of supervisory experience in the construction and maintenance of industrial, public, or institutional buildings.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 2+ additional years of experience in construction or project management
• 2+ additional years of professional experience in resource management or workforce optimization
Knowledge and skills
1. In depth knowledge of building construction and building systems including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
2. Detailed knowledge of costing and estimating methods and procedures.
3. Knowledge of labor relations including contract interpretation and grievance procedures.
4. Knowledge of budgeting including the ability to forecast budget expenditures, work plans, and labor forecasts to predict budget behavior and the ability to make budget decisions early enough to avoid crisis.
5. Knowledge of preventive maintenance requirements and procedures for various facility components.
6. Good customer relationship skills. Ability to deal with irate customers, identify underlying issues, and work to resolution.
7. Effective oral and written communication and organization skills.
8. Personal computer literacy required; proficiency in a variety of software programs including Computerized Maintenance Management System and MS Office applications required.
