Job DescriptionThe UM Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center (UMGCCC) is recruiting a full-time, tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor with an interest in the intersection of clinical trials, biostatistics and AI to join our thriving cancer research environment. This person will hold a primary appointment in the Division of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
The successful candidate will be a core faculty in the UMGCCC Biostatistics Shared Resource and will be required to support Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center investigators and supporting the research infrastructure of the Center. Greenebaum Cancer Center includes 4 major research programs: Cancer Therapeutics, Population Science, Cancer Biology, and Tumor Immunology and Immunoengineering. The successful candidate will be a full-time member of the Biostatistics Shared Resource (BSR). The BSR is responsible for statistical collaboration across the Center, including the design and statistical oversight of clinical trials, and quantitative educational efforts related to the training of fellows and students. The Shared Resource currently includes 5 full-time PhD faculty from the Division of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, as well as affiliated data science faculty from across the University of Maryland. There also is close collaboration with the Institute of Genome Sciences and the Institute for Health Computing.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent in Biostatistics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Applied Mathematics. Preference will be given to individuals who have demonstrated a record of supporting team science grants such as SPORE, P01, U01 and U54, established their own cutting-edge research and have shown the ability or the potential to attract external, peer-reviewed funding. The University of Maryland- Baltimore offers a rich research environment and the Greenbaum Comprehensive Cancer Center provides the opportunity and venue to impact cancer research through methodological innovation. An essential quality of the successful candidate is the ability to professionally and conscientiously support and manage complex data analysis projects in collaborative settings across teams of researchers and core services. Desired qualities include: 1) clinical trial expertise, 2) experience with Team science grants and 3) a record of cutting-edge research in biostatistics and AI. The ability to conduct genomics data analyses would be helpful, such as in biomarker-driven trials and correlative analyses. In sum, the ideal candidate will be collaborative and have methodological versatility, with an interest in the intersection of clinical trials, biostatistics and AI as applied to cancer research.

Salary range: Up to $200,000 annually
The referenced salary range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. This salary range does not include all components of the Program in Oncology faculty compensation program or pay from participation in the Program in Oncology variable compensation programs. Therefore, the actual compensation paid to the selected candidate may vary from the salary range stated herein. For more information, please contact the hiring department.
The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on the University of Maryland School of Medicine's good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University.
