Job DescriptionThe University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON) is seeking a faculty member for the Office of Global Health. The Office of Global Health resides within the Partnerships, Professional Education, and Practice (PPEP) Department, which includes six divisions which focus on educational missions vital to the school. The Office of Global Health offers a 12-credit global health certificate and partners with stakeholders within and outside of the school to build a global community for health equity at this nationally ranked school of nursing.
The Office of Global Health strives to:
• Build partnerships and create programs to improve population health
• Build professional development and capacity of global health care workers
• Strengthen the global visibility, recognition, and value of nurses as leaders
The Office of Global Health candidate will have academic and professional experience in nursing or another health-related field and will uphold and advance the UMB and UMSON core values. They will contribute to student success in the following ways.
Essential Functions in Teaching, Scholarship, Service, and Leadership
Teaching
1. Teach entry level and graduate students in online and classroom environments.
2. Demonstrate and role model excellence and best practices in nursing capacity to improve global health systems.
3. Design and/or revise courses within the global health certificate program.
4. Integrate current technologies in both asynchronous and synchronous online and face to face education.
5. Promote student, faculty and global health learning through assessment that is tied to equitable opportunities and outcomes for all students.
Scholarship and Service
1. Serve as an expert global health resource and consultant for UMSON faculty and staff.
2. Collaborate in developing, planning, implementing, and evaluating global health learning experiences locally and with international partners.
3. Coordinate on and off-campus learning experiences related to global health.
4. Seek and fulfill opportunities for personal professional development in relevant aspects of the faculty role.
Leadership
1. Demonstrate outstanding verbal and written communication.
2. Represent the Office of Global Health and/or the School of Nursing at local, statewide, and national meetings.
3. Demonstrate evidence of interprofessional collaboration and activities with campus, local, and international clinical partners.
4. Participant and/or lead intramural or extramural grant funding initiatives.
5. Assume the full scope of a UMSON faculty role including teaching, scholarship, and service to meet requirements for advancement with the School of Nursing and the University and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications
• Earned doctorate degree in Nursing, Nursing Education, or Health Education
• Demonstrated leadership abilities.
• Experience with program planning and implementation
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in global health teaching face-to-face and/or online in a baccalaureate or higher degree nursing or health professions program at an accredited academic institution
• Competence with instructional technology across various learning environments
• A collaborative approach to assessment for learning that reaches across disciplines and schools.
• Spirit of inquiry and a willingness to develop programs to amplify teaching and learning research and scholarship.
• Exceptional interpersonal communication and teamwork
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse groups of faculty, staff, and students.
• Commitment to uphold and contribute to an environment of inclusion and academic humility in the work/learning space.
Hiring Range: $122,000-$148,000
Benefits Information: UMB offers a generous benefits package that includes 22 vacation days, 14 floating and holidays, 15 sick days; comprehensive health insurance and retirement options; and tuition remission for employees and their dependents at any of the University System of Maryland schools.
