- Assistant Professor - Physical Geography

The Department of Geography and Anthropology at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Physical Geography focused on climatology, extreme weather/climate events, and disaster science management to begin in Fall 2026. A PhD degree or its equivalent in Geography or a related field such as Atmospheric Science is required at the time of appointment. We seek applicants who will complement current faculty research and teaching on extreme events, such as tropical cyclones, heavy precipitation, and tornadoes and how they combine with social vulnerability. We seek someone who is at the forefront of statistical and geospatial modeling techniques and who can contribute to our Climatology and Disaster Science and Management programs within the department. We encourage those who participate in community-engaged or stakeholder-driven research and/or those who assist in advancing science communication and emergency management. Candidates should have a promising program of research, publication, and extramural funding. Expectations are to teach and advise graduate and undergraduate students. The department offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Geography and BA, MA, and PhD degrees in Anthropology.
