- Assistant Professor to Associate Professor (Chemistry)
Description
The Chemistry Program in the College of Natural and Applied Sciences invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in the field of Chemistry. The successful candidate will be able to teach general chemistry and inorganic chemistry at the undergraduate level, with flexibility to teach both large enrollment introductory courses and upper-division courses in the Chemistry Program, as well as develop upper division elective courses in their area of interest. Some teaching at graduate level may be required. This position requires experience with student-centered syllabi and learning outcomes.
This is primarily a teaching position as described above, but the successful applicant will also be expected to conduct research of regional relevance in order to achieve promotion and tenure. The successful candidate will be expected to teach students of varying backgrounds, conduct research, seek outside funding for building research capacity, student advising, and serve on university committees. The successful candidate will be expected to take up their respective positions by August 17, 2026, or until filled.
Requirements
Minimum: Research based Ph.D. in experimental chemistry, preferably with a specialization in Inorganic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or Physical Chemistry from a U.S. regionally accredited institution or foreign equivalent with teaching experience; Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with students and colleagues; Ability and willingness to work with people of diverse cultures and backgrounds; Record of research and publications; Must be willing to teach online.
Preferred: Post-doctoral research experience in Inorganic Chemistry (academic); Demonstrated excellence in teaching General Chemistry at higher level educational institutions; Experience in developing and teaching online/distance learning courses; Experience teaching in the Western Pacific Region; Extensive experience in communications and collaboration with students, faculty & staff; Record of research publication in refereed journals.
