Description
The Department of Religious Studies at Nazareth University in Rochester, NY, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin in Fall 2027. We seek applicants who have either taught World Religions or have been specifically trained to teach it and have a specialization in Hindu traditions. Candidates should be prepared to teach upper division courses in Hinduism as well as thematic courses across world religions. Ethnographic field experience is preferred.

The Assistant Professor will teach the introductory course to world religions, upper division courses in Hindu traditions, upper division thematic courses across world religions, and will participate in events offered by The Hickey Center for Interfaith Studies and Dialogue. The teaching load is four courses per semester, generally with two or three preparations.

Requirements
PhD in Religious Studies or related field with a specialization in Hindu traditions or with a PhD completed by time of appointment (August 2027).
Teaching experience in World Religions, or specific training to teach World Religions
Ability to teach upper division courses in Hinduism as well as thematic courses across world religions
Ability to use computers, software, and related technologies effectively
