Position Description:
The Department of Neurological Surgery is seeking an Associate Professor term to hold the role of Basic Science Cerebrovascular Researcher. This position will lead the development of a cutting-edge research enterprise focused on cerebrovascular biology. This individual will play a pivotal role in establishing foundational research programs and creating robust animal models to advance understanding of cerebrovascular mechanisms and disease.
Key Responsibilities
- Launch and develop a Basic Science Cerebrovascular Research Program within the department.
- Design and implement animal models for cerebrovascular research, ensuring compliance with ethical and regulatory standards.
- Conduct innovative research aimed at understanding cerebrovascular physiology and pathology.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including neurosurgeons, neuroscientists, and clinical researchers, to integrate basic science findings into translational applications.
- Secure extramural funding through grant writing and proposal development.
- Publish research findings in high-impact scientific journals and present at national and international conferences.
- Mentor graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty in cerebrovascular research techniques and methodologies.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. or equivalent in Neuroscience, Vascular Biology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of postdoctoral or independent research experience in cerebrovascular science.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing and utilizing animal models for basic science research.
- Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
- Proven ability to obtain research funding and manage research projects.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in translational research bridging basic science and clinical applications.
- Familiarity with advanced imaging techniques and molecular biology tools relevant to cerebrovascular research.
