Job Description:Primary Responsibility
Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President of Business Services, the Budget/Finance Analyst provides analytical support for budget projects. Provides technical assistance in preparation of operational budgets for departments and college wide budget; reviews expenditures to ensure conformance with budgetary provisions. Maintains, and reconciles the general ledger. Compiles data and prepares reports.
*This is a part-time position which is limited to 28 hours per CMC's workweek. CMC's workweek is Saturday through Friday.
Pre-requisites for Position (Qualifications Standards)
Education and experience to meet the rigors of the position. Examples include a Bachelor's Degree and three years related experience, or equivalent education and experience that will provide the necessary knowledge, skill and abilities to perform the functions of the position.
Degree in Accounting or a related field preferred.
Special Skills or abilities directly applicable to the position: In-depth and current understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practices, business office operations, budgeting, and profit and loss statements. Organize and prioritize workload, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to perform quantitative and qualitative analysis. Define problems, evaluate causes, collect data, establish facts and take appropriate corrective action. Perform accurate and complex calculations, utilize automated computer programs, and prepare financial reports and spreadsheets. Advanced experience with standard Microsoft Office software products. Advanced Excel skills and ability to work with financial software and tools required.

*This is a two year term (auxiliary) funded position and continued employment of the position is contingent on continued funding.
*Remote work options may be available and will be evaluated on an individual basis. On-site attendance will be required at times for all positions. All candidates selected must live and perform all CMC work in the State of Colorado. Hours can vary based on time of year and student needs. This position will be required to visit our campuses (and Central Services) in Western Colorado for certain events, training, or meetings, or other occasions deemed important by the employee's supervisor.
The hiring pay rate is $37.16 per hour. Benefits include retirement contribution, annual and sick time, mental health resources, and tuition benefit. CMC utilizes a wage progression compensation model that accounts for a candidate's skill and experience. Although a hiring rate is listed, this will be set commensurate with the successful candidate's qualifications and in compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.

Minimum Qualifications:
Essential Duties
- Compile, analyze, and reconcile financial data to support reporting, forecasting, internal review, and designated general ledger accounts, including preparing correcting or draft journal entries as assigned.
- Support monitoring of salary, benefit, cash, bank, and grant expenditures; assist with reconciliation tasks, draft reconciliations, and simple corrections.
- Assist in preparing internal and external financial reports, data summaries, portions of the annual budget, and related draft worksheets.
- Provide technical assistance to departments and budget managers on budget processes, forms, basic financial inquiries, and Workday system tasks such as running reports, validating data, or preparing uploads.
- Support monthly and yearend reconciliation processes, including comparing Workday data with internal records and coordinating on yearend financial system close.
- Compile data for quarterly, annual, closeout, or audit related reports; assist with preparing schedules and documentation for Single Audit or financial audit procedures.
- Ensure documentation for transactions, reconciliations, and reports is accurate and retained per policy while supporting monitoring processes for compliance with internal controls, grant rules, and accounting procedures.
- Provide courteous, timely, and accurate support to budget managers, campus staff, and grant program managers.
- Assist with developing training materials or guides related to budgeting, financial processes, or entry procedures.
- Perform general accounting duties, including preparing journal entries, correcting entries, interdepartmental charges, and using the college ERP system to record, store, maintain, and analyze financial information.
- Complete other accounting and budget related tasks as assigned.
Supervision Received
This position works under the guidance of a designated administrator.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not have any supervisor responsibilities.
Special Conditions of Employment
Successful completion of a background check including motor vehicles records report will be required.
Incumbents in this position will adhere to all safety and compliance policies of Colorado Mountain College while performing all duties assigned. Travel on occasion for department meetings or individual training.
Working Conditions
This position requires constant sitting, occasional walking, standing and driving; occasional handling objects, pushing/pulling; frequent reaching with hands/arms, and use of finger movements; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects up to 50 lbs. Constant written and oral communication and the ability to reason and analyze and perform calculations occasionally. Work is performed using a computer and standard office equipment daily and driving a vehicle occasionally.
