- Campus Landscape Architect
Description
The Campus Landscape Architect position falls within the Planning & Design - Landscape and Natural Resources team within Facilities Services. This role assists with overseeing the design review of all capital projects for suitability in addressing landscape and exterior environmental impacts, including, but not limited to, tree conservation, site protection, restoration, maintenance, and adherence to the Campus Master Plan and the Landscape Vision & Site Standards. This position will support landscape planning and project implementation for the Landscape Services unit within Facilities Services. In addition, this role assists with the creation of new or revised Landscape Visions and Site Standards and organizational processes. This person will assist in the development of related feasibility studies and programming efforts and will provide illustrations and graphic studies across the Design Services group to assist with presentations and departmental studies.
Requirements
- Assists with managing site and landscape focused capital projects through programming, design, and construction including working with UT/UTK project managers, UTK Faculty/Staff, external design teams, and external contractors
- Assist with site and landscape design direction across all UTK capital projects
- Provide design assistance including feasibility studies, programming, master planning activities, and signage studies
- Perform site observations of ongoing capital and in-house construction projects and prepares written documentation of such observations, and works with appropriate parties to make corrective actions in a timely manner.
- Assists in edits to the campus standards and guidelines, including the Landscape Vision & Site Standards.
- Creates conceptual graphics, illustrations, massing studies, etc., for potential future projects.
- Collaborate with the Landscape Services unit within Facilities Services to design new planting and planting renovation projects.
- Provide direction for campus signage placement and installation.
- Reviews and approves temporary signage requests, including placement of building banners.
- Provides guidance for the development, relocation, and maintenance of campus sculptures.
