What You Will Do
- Perform and demonstrate knowledge of patient-related support functions, including answering telephones and managing electronic patient charts.
- Prepare, file, maintain, and retrieve electronic patient records in support of patient care operations.
- Assist faculty to ensure that patient care is conducted effectively and efficiently within the School of Dental Medicine.
- Work extensively with computer systems, patient records, and telephone communications.
- Provide clinical dental assisting support as needed, including chair-side assistance.
- Collaborate with patients, staff, students, residents, fellows, and faculty to support smooth clinical operations.
- Maintain professionalism and efficiency in both office and clinical environments.
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
High school graduation or equivalent.
One year (12 months) of experience:
A. comparable to that performed at the Dental Clinic Clerk I level of this series, OR
B. Certified Dental Assistant in a dental clinic facility, program, or in dentistry practice, if required by employing institution
Preferred Qualifications
This person must be an experienced dental assistant with knowledge of dentistry. Should possess; knowledge (and have experience) working chair-side, taking most types of dental radiographs, knowledge of dental procedures, techniques, terminology and practice. Computer skills are necessary to perform some of the clerical duties. In addition, this staff person must demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate and work harmoniously with patients, parents, staff, students and faculty. This position requires a high degree of interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
