The University of Scranton Department of Counseling and Human Services invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track Faculty Specialist position in Clinical Mental Health Counseling starting in August 2026. The Department of Counseling and Human Services is strongly committed to excellence; the Department’s graduates are recognized for being ready to deliver high-quality, evidence-based, holistic, person-centered care at all levels and across settings.
The Department of Counseling and Human Services offers a welcoming work atmosphere and seeks candidates with expertise in professional counseling. A master’s or doctoral degree in Counseling/Counselor Education from a Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) accredited program is required. Ideal applicants will have clinical experience (5 years post master’s), a professional counselor identity, higher education teaching experience, and clinical supervision experience. Candidates with expertise in a specific counseling specialty, including addictions or forensic/corrections counseling expertise, are preferred. Applicants must be licensed, or eligible to be licensed, as a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The Department of Counseling and Human Services, which resides in the Leahy College of Health Sciences at The University of Scranton, offers a bachelor’s degree program; 3 master’s degree counseling programs (Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling, School Counseling); and a master’s degree in Applied Behavioral Analysis. Additionally, we are proud to have a state-of-the-art Counselor Training Center within our department. Our 3 master’s degree programs in counseling are accredited by CACREP. The Department is also home to the Chi Delta Rho chapter of Chi Sigma Iota the International Counseling Honor Society. The Leahy College of Health Sciences supports faculty clinical practice, and there are opportunities for collaboration with local and regional clinical partners.
