Description
Newberry College (NCAA D2), located in Newberry, SC, is seeking applicants for our Assistant Women’s and Men’s Volleyball Coach position. The selected candidate will ensure the teams operate and conduct themselves within the ideals, goals, rules and regulations set forth by Newberry College, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the South Atlantic Conference (SAC). The successful candidate will embrace and promote the mission of Newberry College.
This position reports directly to the Head Women’s and Men’s Volleyball Coach. The successful candidate will provide leadership, organization, supervision, instruction, and strategic planning for the Wolves women’s and men’s tennis team
JOB FUNCTIONS:
Recruit student athletes that fit the culture of the college and the women’s and men’s volleyball program.
Create an atmosphere that emphasizes the student-athlete experience.
Construct a plan to ensure academic success and personal development of student-athletes.
Meets recruiting and retention goals.
Ensure each student-athlete has a pathway towards graduation.
Identify, elevate, and recruit academically prepared student-athletes in accordance with college policy and NCAA regulations.
Establish an effective communication plan with student-athletes.
Providing individual coaching and guidance to team members, focusing on skill development and game strategy.
Maintaining a positive and professional atmosphere within the team, fostering teamwork and sportsmanship.
Other duties as assigned by Head Volleyball Coach.
Requirements
Requirements include a bachelor’s degree, and previous collegiate men’s or women’s volleyball coaching or playing experience is preferred, strong knowledge of skill development, rules, and strategies, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with student-athletes, coaches, and staff members, demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire athletes to achieve their full potential. Upon employment, the candidate must successfully complete NCAA certification exam. A valid driver's license and clean driving record (if travel is required).
