Overview
The Department of Biological Sciences at the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Northern Illinois University ( NIU ), invites applications for instructor positions to create a pool for advance and short notice hiring. These will be part or full-time temporary instructor positions. Start dates vary based on programmatic needs.
We are seeking potential candidates to provide high-quality teaching in the areas of Biological Sciences who fully embrace NIU's mission of providing opportunity to a diverse student body by providing them with access to high quality education.

Position Summary
The Biological Sciences Instructor will be responsible for teaching various topics in Biology, including but not limited to, Introductory Biology, General Education, and Human Anatomical Sciences, at both the undergraduate level and graduate levels, supervising student teaching assistants, and holding office hours. Applicants may be required to provide "in person" instruction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Teaching load will be no more than 13 credit hours during fall semester, no more than 13 credit hours during Spring semesters, and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Master's in Biological Sciences or closely related field
- Expertise or evident potential for quality teaching in Biology at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

- Ph.D. in Biological Sciences or closely related field
- Experience teaching and mentoring students of diverse backgrounds
