Description

The Instructor hired for this position will teach undergraduate lecture and laboratory courses, primarily at the lower-division level, including both non-majors and majors courses such as General Human Biology and Microbiology. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with department faculty in the coordination of multi-section courses to ensure consistency in course content, learning outcomes, and student experience. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester; in addition to teaching in-person classes on CMU’s main campus, courses assigned may include online and/or hybrid modalities.  Apply at this link.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s Degree in Biology (or related discipline) from an accredited institution
Experience teaching 100-200 level undergraduate biology courses 
Demonstrated enthusiasm for teaching
Effective communication and organizational skills
Ability to engage productively in a collegial, collaborative academic environment
 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience teaching both majors and non-majors undergraduate biology courses
Experience collaborating on or coordinating multi-section courses
Experience leading laboratory, field, or applied learning activities

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following 

• Teach 12 credit hours each semester
• Utilize D2L for course syllabus and grade book
• Prepare and grade assignments, quizzes, and exams
• Develop and deliver lesson plans, assignments, and assessments that align with the curriculum and learning objectives.
• Ability and willingness to lead outdoor field trips
• Active participation in department course content meetings
• Other duties as needed by the department
