- Legal Research Associate
Description
The Legal Research Associate is responsible for legal research, analysis, and writing to support short- and long-term research needs of School of Government faculty. Specifically, duties of the position include electronic and paper-based legal research, cite-checking, legal writing, draft publication review, and other related research assistance. The Research Associate will be supervised by the Senior Legal Research Associate and will support faculty research in a wide variety of fields, including but not limited to local government law, employment law, criminal law, civil procedure, and judicial administration. When the North Carolina legislature is in, members of the research team may also help support the School’s Legislative Reporting Service, which summarizes bills as they are introduced and tracks them as they progress.
Requirements
Strong legal research and writing skills, organizational skills, oral communication skills, and computer word processing skills are required. The ideal candidate will be meticulous and have demonstrated project management skills as well as experience in practical research.
Strong preference for individuals holding a J.D. Interest and or experience in government is helpful.
