Description
Are you passionate about connecting people with knowledge and resources? Lehigh University seeks a dedicated Lending Services Coordinator to join our vibrant Library and Technology Services team! As our evening/weekend operations supervisor, you'll be the cornerstone of exceptional library service. You'll lead our front desk operations, mentor Student Assistants, and ensure facility security during extended hours. Your expertise in customer service will shine as you assist researchers, guide them through our extensive resources, and provide invaluable research support to our diverse university community.Position Number: S82710
This position is a Grade: 7 - 37.5 with an approximate salary range of $36,640 - $43,980 and is subject to change based on experience, skills and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinate evening and weekend departmental services, including supervising front desk operations and Student Assistants.
• Perform regular facility security and condition checks, managing access, and resolving patron or building issues.
• Provide excellent customer service at the Lending Services Desk, assisting and instructing researchers on library resources and services.
• Utilize library applications (FOLIO, ILLiad, Palci E-ZBorrow, etc.) to circulate materials and troubleshoot patron accounts (e.g., resolving fines and access problems).
• Manage and process interlibrary loan requests through Palci EZ-Borrow, ILLiad, and RapidILL to support researchers.
• Coordinate the shipment and receipt of materials between institutions.
• Provide general information and basic research assistance to faculty, staff, and students, escalating complex questions to the appropriate desk.
• Assist users with facility or equipment issues and use tracking systems (e.g., Jira) for support requests.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience; Bachelor's Degree in Library Sciences preferred
• One to three years related work experience
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills necessary for communicating with patrons, supervising staff, and reporting issues to management
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously in a high-traffic service environment
