DescriptionAssume responsibility and leadership for implementing the Prevention Initiative Program. Responsibilities include coordinating and implementing a program that requires personal visits once a week and community-based programming. Assume responsibility for all record keeping and documentation in a timely manner.

The target salary offer for this position is $33,750.00 - $35,100.00 annually at full time. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
Examples of Duties
- Participate in the recruitment and screening of participants.
- Work with school district staff to identify eligible families.
- Collaborate with local agencies and community programs to identify and recruit families.
- Participate in Child Find Screenings.
- Conduct screenings to determine program eligibility utilizing the Brigance Screens III or the Ages and Stages Questionnaires.
- Evaluate screening results and child find family questionnaires to determine the eligibility of the child for the program.
- Enroll the children who are most eligible, as determined by the eligibility point system for the Prevention Initiative Program.
- Follow through with contacting referred families and assist families in completing all enrollment requirements promptly before the start of enrollment.
- Provide all required ongoing screenings of children and document results.
- Submit Monthly Screening Eligibility Form to Program Coordinator.
- Plan and implement the Prevention Initiative Program.
- Enroll 12 most at-risk children in full-time program.
- Provide weekly personal visits to enrolled families in their homes or community-based locations.
- Develop child and family goals, partnering with the caregivers based on information gathered, observed, and contained in the Individual Family Goal Plan.
- Make appropriate referrals as needed to Parental Training, Prekindergarten, Special Education, Early Intervention, and other community services.
- Involve parents in planning, programming, and their child's overall development.
- Provide monthly group connections (i.e., field trips, parent workshops, etc.) for families based on their interests and needs.
- Document the completion of all family activities and personal visits for evaluation and research purposes. Such documentation will be provided on approved forms developed within the programs or documented online.
- Implement and conduct a transition plan with all children that will exit the program collaborating with appropriate agencies for children turning three, based on the family preferences and childcare options within the community.
- Maintain care, safety, and well-being of all children in programming.
- Administrative responsibilities.
- Serve as a liaison between the school district and the central office.
- Assume an active role in coordinating team efforts to meet the needs of the families involved in the program.
- Support team members and participate in ongoing team development with Prekindergarten and Parental Training staff as needed.
- Maintain ongoing communication with Program Coordinator, Program Director, and central office.
- Enter personal visits into Visit-Tracker calendar at least one week prior to the visit taking place. Revise accordingly to reflect any changes in the work schedule.
- Complete and submit program paperwork such as absence requests, physical forms, inventory forms, etc., promptly. g. Conduct an annual inventory of family center materials.
- Professional responsibilities.
- Serve as a model of professionalism through interactions and written and verbal communications with children, families, staff, and collaborative partners.
- Maintain ongoing communication with central office, program coordinator, program director, prekindergarten teachers, and family educators.
- Participate in annual performance evaluation, including professional development plans that should reflect professional goals and growth.
- Participate in appropriate professional development opportunities such as workshops, conferences, university classes.
- Participate in all staff meetings and appropriate school-based meetings.
- Demonstrate participation in professional organizations such as the Southern Illinois Association for the Education of Young Children.
- Attend and/or present at local, state, regional or national professional organization conferences, university classes and seminars, administrator meetings, and Illinois State Board of Education meetings and conferences.
- Perform all duties as requested by the Program Coordinator and/or Program Director.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree or master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Child and Family Services, Elementary Education, Social Work, Psychology, or other related fields of study is required. A bachelor's degree is required for the SIU non-tenure-track faculty rank of Assistant Instructor, and a master's degree is required for the SIU non-tenure-track faculty rank of Assistant Lecturer.
- Experience working with the infant and toddler population. Knowledge of appropriate child development and milestones from the ages of birth-three.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in the home visiting field supporting families with a strengths-based curriculum.
- Spanish language proficiency to speak and write.
- Early Childhood data collection methods; membership, committee work, or presentations to professional educational organizations at the local, state, and national levels.
- NAEYC Developmentally Appropriate Practices knowledge.
- We are particularly interested in candidates with experience working with diverse populations of families with young children that are at-risk of academic failure.
