What You Will Do
- Provide administrative, organizational, and office support to the Chairs of Accounting and CMIS, as well as approximately 24 full-time faculty and varying part-time faculty.
- Reduce inquiries to the Chairs by using thorough knowledge of the University and School of Business to assist and answer questions from students, prospective students, faculty, staff, and the public.
- Create and maintain documents containing confidential and sensitive information, and draft correspondence, memos, and reports representing the Chairs and faculty.
- Establish and maintain confidential records and files, and coordinate updates to department websites, bulletin boards, and brochures.
- Conduct research and analysis for projects assigned by the Chairs and faculty.
- Maintain inventory control records and conduct periodic physical checks.
- Plan, organize, assign, and review the work of support student workers and GA's, and coordinate the hiring, training, and evaluation of department support students.
- Prepare faculty travel and expense reimbursement documents and coordinate logistical arrangements for conferences and meetings.
- Manage and update the Chairs' calendars with reminders of upcoming engagements.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Any one of the following from the categories below:
- Four (4) years (48 months) of work experience comparable to the third level of this series.
- Two (2) years (24 months) of work experience comparable to the fourth level of this series.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of administrative procedures and systems including word processing, file and records management, and general office procedures and terminology.
- Knowledge of customer and personal service principles, including needs assessment, meeting quality standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction.
- Knowledge of English language structure and content, including spelling, composition rules, and grammar.
- Knowledge of computers and computer systems (hardware and software) for data entry and information processing.
- Skill in material resources management, including obtaining and appropriately using equipment, facilities, and materials.
- Skill in decision-making by weighing costs and benefits and choosing the most appropriate action.
- Skill in effective communication.
- Ability to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
- Ability to organize or arrange items according to specific rules or patterns (numbers, letters, words, pictures, or operations).
- Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to reach sensible conclusions.
- Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions.
- Ability to select appropriate mathematical methods or formulas to solve problems.
- Ability to provide guidance and direction to subordinates.
- Professional, business, or industry experience preferred.

Illinois Residency Requirement: Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.
