Howard University College of Dentistry invites applications and nominations for high level administrative positions such as Program Directors, Chairs or those with specialty training at the Associate Professor level. The College seeks experienced academic leaders committed to excellence in graduate dental education, resident training, clinical service, and scholarly activity.
These leadership opportunities support the continued advancement of the College’s pre and postdoctoral programs, including hospital-based and specialty residency programs.
Administrators are responsible for the administrative leadership, educational oversight, and accreditation compliance of their respective programs in accordance with CODA standards. Chairs and Directors work collaboratively with faculty, residents, and institutional leadership to maintain high-quality clinical training environments while advancing innovation in dental education.
Responsibilities
Provide academic and administrative leadership for pre and postdoctoral training programs
Ensure compliance with CODA accreditation standards
Oversee resident recruitment, evaluation, and mentoring
Support clinical education and patient care activities
Foster faculty engagement, research, and scholarly activity
Participate in institutional governance and strategic planning
Qualifications
DDS/DMD degree from an accredited institution (required)
Advanced training in a dental specialty or hospital dentistry program (where applicable)
Eligibility for dental licensure in the District of Columbia
Demonstrated leadership in academic dentistry or graduate dental education
Experience with CODA accreditation and residency program administration preferred
