Role Summary
The Superintendent serves as the chief executive and spiritual leader of MICS, responsible for stewarding the mission, culture, and strategic direction of the school. This leader partners closely with the MICS School Board and pastoral leadership of First Baptist Church Merritt Island, leading all daily operations, personnel development, academic oversight, and long-range planning.

Professional Qualifications
A strong candidate will bring:
- A Doctorate in educational leadership or related field.
- A minimum of five years of school leadership experience, preferably in a PK–12 Christian school.
- Classroom experience that enables support for faculty and instructional excellence.
- Competency in strategic planning, organizational leadership, and system development.
- Demonstrated experience in financial stewardship, budgeting, and resource planning.
- Experience navigating accreditation, legal compliance, and academic program oversight.
- Skill in developing administrators and faculty through mentoring, evaluation, and professional growth.
- A proven ability to communicate clearly and cultivate healthy relationships with all stakeholders.
Essential Leadership Responsibilities
1. Spiritual and Relational Shepherding
- Guard the Christ-centered culture of the school.
- Maintain a visible presence among students, families, and staff.
- Integrate biblical worldview teaching and discipleship priorities across all divisions.
2. Vision and Strategic Direction (refer to school profile)
- Lead in alignment with the mission and long-term goals of MICS.
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives for academic excellence, spiritual formation, and campus development.
- Establish clear communication structures that strengthen unity and understanding.
3. Faculty and Team Development
- Build a collaborative leadership culture marked by trust and shared responsibility.
- Provide ongoing support, professional development, and accountability for administrators and faculty.
- Promote an environment where teachers are encouraged, equipped, and valued.
4. Academic Leadership and Student Experience
- Ensure rigorous academics within a biblical worldview.
- Strengthen systems that support student well-being, discipleship, and academic progress.
- Champion an environment where every student is known, challenged, and discipled.
5. Operational and Financial Stewardship
- Oversee budgeting, financial planning, tuition structures, and staffing decisions with transparency.
- Lead long-range planning for facilities, safety, and campus growth.
- Ensure operational systems are clear, sustainable, and aligned with mission.
6. Church, Community, and Public Engagement
- Prioritize partnership between MICS and First Baptist Church Merritt Island.
- Represent the school with professionalism and integrity in the community.
- Maintain effective, timely, and relational communication with all stakeholders.

Across more than 400 responses from students, parents, faculty, staff, and the leadership team, the community expressed a unified desire for a Superintendent who:

Strategic Priorities for the Next Superintendent
The coming season provides a strong foundation for growth. The next Superintendent will be asked to:
- Prioritize listening, understanding, and discernment before an actionable plan.
- Strengthen clarity, communication, and consistency across all divisions.
- Further the development of a multi-year strategic plan for academics, spiritual formation, and campus development.
- Support a growing faculty and student body through healthy structures and leadership development.
- Shepherd a community eager for unity, trust, and Christ-centered culture.
- Lead responsibly in facilities planning and financial stewardship to meet long-term needs and develop fund raising strategies.
Governance and Leadership Partnership
The Superintendent is accountable to the pastoral leadership of First Baptist Church of Merritt Island and the MICS School Board. The School Board provides strategic, fiduciary, and spiritual oversight, while the Superintendent leads the daily mission, operations, personnel, and academic programs of the school. The Senior Pastor provides direct supervision and conducts the annual evaluation of the Superintendent. A posture of collaboration, shared purpose, and clear communication between the Superintendent, the School Board, and FBCMI pastoral leadership is essential for long-term health.

1. Cover letter expressing interest and testimony of faith.
2. Resume or CV outlining educational and leadership experience.
3. Statement of Philosophy of Christian Education.
4. Testimony of walk with Christ and personal statement of faith.
5. Three professional references and one pastoral reference.
6. Written responses: Respond to the required leadership priority and also select two additional priorities. For each, provide two brief examples of how you have embodied those priorities in previous leadership roles.
