- Tampa - Education/Employment Junior Associate
Description
Fisher Phillips, a leading national labor and employment law firm, is seeking an associate attorney with 1–3 years of experience litigation experience to join our Tampa office.
The ideal candidate will be interested in devoting more than 50% of their practice to education law matters while also handling some traditional employment law matters. The candidate will be supporting a partner with an established education practice who also practices employment law.
Education Practice Work Includes:
- Representing clients in administrative matters, including litigation before the Division of Administrative Hearings and the Florida Department of Education, arising under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and applicable Florida State Board Rules.
- Providing daily advice and counseling on education law issues.
- Attending client meetings in support of, and/or defense of, education-related matters.
- Delivering training to stakeholders on key topics in the education law arena.
Employment Practice Work Includes:
- Defending charges before administrative agencies such as the EEOC and Florida Commission on Human Relations involving claims under Title VII, ADA, ADEA, the Florida Civil Rights Act, and related statutes.
- Responding to demand letters on disputed employment law claims.
- Assisting with litigation defense in employment-related disputes.
- Conducting legal research and fact investigation to support case strategy.
Qualifications:
- 1–3 years of litigation experience (education law experience is a plus).
- Excellent writing, research, and analytical skills.
- Strong academic credentials.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to professional development and delivering exceptional client service.
- Admission to the Florida Bar is required/Must be local to the Tampa Bay area.
