| Position Summary: | Villanova University's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) seeks candidates for a full-time tenure-track position in water resource engineering starting in the fall 2026 semester. The Department is looking for a highly qualified and energetic individual who will complement and strengthen our outstanding faculty. Candidates with expertise in the areas of: urban hydrology; resilient hydrologic infrastructure design; data-driven water systems; and nature-based engineered systems, particularly with interest in field monitoring applications, are highly encouraged to apply. The position is at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor as determined by the qualifications of the candidate. The CEE Department within the College of Engineering is recognized for providing a distinctive broad-based civil engineering education, grounded in Augustinian Catholic values, mission, and a commitment to service. The College strives to be widely acknowledged as a premier program known for our outstanding pedagogy and curricula, international opportunities, personal attention to students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The CEE Department has 18 full-time faculty members (13 tenure-track faculty and 5 teaching faculty). There are approximately 230 undergraduate students and 125 graduate students enrolled in the B.S., M.S. (both Civil Engineering and Water Resources/Environmental Engineering), and Ph.D. degree programs. The University is strongly rooted in a sense of community, and the CEE Department and College of Engineering are deeply committed to work-life balance and providing family-friendly programs for our faculty. | Duties and Responsibilities: | The CEE Department is highly committed to research and the pursuit of scholarship. Department faculty annually produce over $3M in research expenditures and collectively publish about 20 papers in refereed journals and another 20 in refereed conference proceedings and other venues each year. Scholarship is performed in a highly collaborative environment. CEE Faculty have multiple collaborations with departments and units across campus, including interdisciplinary efforts in the College of Nursing, the Department of Geography and Environment, and all departments within the College of Engineering. The CEE Department and College of Engineering have built excellent infrastructure to support scholarship, and laboratory facilities. The College also is home to the Villanova Center for Resilient Water Systems, a nationally recognized research center. The College of Engineering has recently expanded its footprint on campus with a 150,000 square foot addition to the primary engineering building, Drosdick Hall. This building is home to a new hydraulics and sediments laboratory (which includes a 50 ft. sediment recirculation hydraulic flume), teaching laboratory, water quality and environmental engineering laboratories, and geotechnical laboratories. Villanova also hosts a 25-year-old living hydraulic lab on campus. These spaces allow for the continued growth of the College by providing abundant graduate student offices and facilities, in addition to state of the art classrooms and collaborative learning spaces. | 
| Minimum Qualifications: | The candidate will be expected to develop a sustainable research program, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, teach and develop undergraduate and graduate courses, and engage in impactful service. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or a closely aligned discipline (must be completed at the time of hire). |
