The Physical Therapy Program, housed in the McQueary College of Health and Human Services
(MCHHS), invites applications for a 12-month, full-time, tenure-track appointment at the rank of
Assistant Professor, beginning January 1, 2027. The position is intended for a licensed physical
therapist with training and clinical experience in orthopedic physical therapy.
MCHHS supports more than 3,000 undergraduate and 900 graduate students through nationally

The Assistant Professor is a member of the ranked faculty and is expected to demonstrate
achievement in teaching, research, and professional service appropriate to the discipline. Teaching
responsibilities are assigned by the Physical Therapy Program Director and may include serving as
an academic advisor. The Assistant Professor is also expected to engage in scholarly activities
beyond those associated with teaching and to demonstrate professional productivity in research,
consistent with the mission of the University and the availability of resources.

Responsibilities:
The Assistant Professor will provide didactic instruction in the physical therapy curriculum with primary emphasis inteaching physical therapy students how to evaluate and treat patients with acute, recurrent, and chronicorthopedic/neuromusculoskeletal dysfunction. The Assistant Professor will be expected to supervise and mentorstudents in clinical and laboratory settings, integrated clinical experiences, and clinical education. This may includeassisting in curricular development, promotion of student development of strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and manual skills. Additional responsibilities include assisting in program development, engaging in scholarly activity; andproviding service to the department, college, university, and profession. Clinical practice opportunities are available and encouraged.
Qualications:
The successful candidate will be a physical therapist eligible for licensure in Missouri, hold a clinical Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree, and possess a Cyriax-based advanced clinical practice manual therapy certication (e.g., clinical certication in orthopedic manual therapy through the International Academy of Orthopedic Medicine) or be enrolled in anadvanced Cyriax-based clinical practice manual therapy certication program with an expected completion date ofDecember 2027. The candidate must have prior academic teaching experience with demonstrated excellence and possessat least ve years of orthopedic clinical and administrative experience in an outpatient, manual therapy setting, treatingpatients with acute, recurrent, and chronic orthopedic and neuromuscular dysfunction. A research agenda and potential forscholarly activity are required.
Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate effective communication and relationship-building skills, as well asknowledge of, respect for, and the ability to engage successfully with individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds.The successful candidate will also exhibit inclusive teaching practices and be knowledgeable in the use of student-centered pedagogy to actively engage students in the learning process. The candidate will join a unit dedicated toproviding students with access to high-impact practices aimed at increasing student retention, persistence, and success.
