Description
The Assistant Alliance Manager supports the Licensing Officers and broader Corporate Alliances team within Penn Center for Innovation (PCI) in the management of established strategic alliance relationships. The position supports activities related to intellectual property and research program management, transactional agreements, and overall alliance relationship management. The position reports to a Senior Associate Director of Licensing on the Corporate Alliances team. The Assistant Alliance Manager provides project management and coordination for Penn – alliance partner initiatives, tracking activities, deliverables, timelines, and resource needs, and communicating progress to the PCI Alliances team and other Penn stakeholders, as appropriate. The position works across internal and external teams to facilitate timely execution of alliance-related projects and ensure that relevant stakeholders have the information and resources necessary to meet program objectives. In close coordination with the Executive Director of Alliances, Licensing Officers, Corporate Alliances attorneys, and other Alliances team personnel, the Assistant Alliance Manager supports the negotiation, preparation, execution, and administration of certain third-party agreements necessary to fulfill Penn's obligations under active alliance programs. The position also assists with agreement management and close out activities across the portfolio of alliance program contracts. The Assistant Alliance Manager coordinates with PCI's Intellectual Property and Finance groups, alliance partners, and other third parties to maintain accurate documentation and records concerning intellectual property licensed or otherwise managed under active alliance programs. Responsibilities include facilitating updates to intellectual property portfolios and supporting the administration and resolution of patent billing, income allocation, and distribution matters associated with alliance programs. The position also serves as a resource for Penn faculty and staff regarding operational and administrative matters associated with alliance program agreements, helping to field inquiries, coordinate responses, and connect stakeholders with appropriate PCI personnel.

Job Responsibilities
- Assist the Associate Alliance Manager, Senior Alliance Manager, and/or Licensing Officer, as directed, with interactions with established alliance partners in the areas of intellectual property management, research programs, transactional agreements and overall relationship management.
- Assist with project management support of Penn-alliance partner initiatives, including reporting such initiatives out to PCI Alliances and other Penn stakeholders, as appropriate, to ensure initiatives are properly resourced and completed on time.
- In close coordination with Senior Associate Director-Alliances, and other colleagues in PCI’s Corporate Alliances group, negotiate certain third party agreements to meet Penn's obligations for active alliance programs, as assigned.
- Assist the Associate and Senior Alliance Managers in coordinating with PCI's Intellectual Property group, PCI's Finance group, alliance partners and third parties to manage documentation and updating of intellectual property that is licensed under active alliance programs and to facilitate and help manage patent billing, income allocation and distribution matters related to alliance programs.
- Assist the Associate and Senior Alliance Managers in addressing requests from Penn faculty and staff members related to alliance program agreements.
Provide agreement and close-out support for all alliance program contracts.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 2-3 years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Project management and basic contract drafting experience are required.
