The Department of Psychology at St. Mary's College of Maryland is accepting applications for the tenure track position of Assistant Professor of Psychology (Clinical/Counseling), beginning fall 2027. An interest in attracting and retaining students from underrepresented groups is essential. Teaching responsibilities will include general courses in the psychology major (e.g., Intro to Psychology; Psychological Research, Analysis, and Writing; Scientific Writing and Professional Development), breadth courses in Clincal/Counseling, and topics courses in an area of specialization. The standard teaching load is 3 courses per semester, although supervision of senior thesis projects counts toward the teaching load. The development of an active research program involving undergraduates is expected, and a commitment to culturally competent teaching/mentoring and fostering inclusive and equitable learning environments is essential. To support your transition and professional development, first-year faculty are provided a reduced workload, shared course materials, and a structured mentoring program. We offer negotiated start-up grants and lab space to continue your research, especially encouraging projects that involve undergraduate students. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Psychology or a related field (ABD acceptable at the time of application).
