Description
PSEA is a professional and labor organization representing over 177,000 members and over 1,000 local union affiliates. The majority of PSEA’s members are public school employees. PSEA also represents employees in private schools, colleges and universities, correctional facilities and health care institutions, retired employees, and students preparing for employment in education or health care. PSEA has been an advocate for excellence in education since 1852.
PSEA is seeking a Staff Attorney for our Harrisburg, PA office. This position will serve on a team of attorneys who counsel the organization, its various departments, and its leaders regarding a wide range of legal issues impacting PSEA, its local affiliates, and its members. The Staff Attorney may also advise and represent PSEA and its local affiliates and members in grievance arbitrations, litigation in state and federal courts, and administrative proceedings before state and federal agencies such as the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board, National Labor Relations Board, Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Department of Education.
Applicants should have a minimum of five years’ experience, admission to the Pennsylvania bar, familiarity with labor and/or education law, and excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills. Some litigation experience is preferred.
