Description
Under the direction of the Chief Legal Counsel, the Attorney is responsible for conducting internal investigations, representing the District at administrative hearings and before administrative agencies, negotiating agreements, and attending labor arbitration hearings with minimal supervision.
This role supports the Office of Legal Services in areas including collective bargaining, board policy development, discrimination claims, student discipline, special education, and public records compliance.
The Attorney researches and analyzes legal issues, manages discovery, conducts settlement negotiations, prepares and submits administrative filings, and handles appellate processes. The position provides legal counsel on matters involving special education, civil rights, labor and employment, and personnel discipline.
This role represents the District before courts, administrative agencies, and arbitrators while advising internal stakeholders on legal risks and strategic decisions.
Job Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.)
- Licensed and in good standing with the Ohio Bar (or ability to obtain within 3 months)
- Minimum of 5 years of legal experience
- Experience in labor & employment, special education, or civil rights
