The Counselor/Coordinator of Clinical Programming provides direct counseling, crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, and referral services to university students while developing and coordinating clinical programs that address identified student mental health needs. The position uses data, research, and emerging trends to guide group counseling, psychoeducational programming, screenings, early-intervention initiatives, and other evidence-based services. The coordinator evaluates program effectiveness and collaborates with Counseling Services and campus partners to enhance student well-being and access to appropriate mental health support. 
The Counselor/Coordinator of Clinical Programming is a full-time professional position within Counseling Services responsible for providing direct clinical services to university students and coordinating clinical programming designed to address the mental health and psychosocial needs of the student population. The position combines counseling, crisis intervention, consultation, outreach, and program development with responsibility for identifying, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based clinical programs and interventions.

The Counselor/Coordinator works collaboratively with Counseling Services staff and campus partners to promote student well-being, improve access to mental health resources, and respond to emerging student needs. The position requires strong generalist clinical skills, the ability to respond effectively to varying levels of psychological distress, and demonstrated skills in program development, group work, assessment, and coordination

Duties and Responsibilities
Personal Counseling – 60%
Provides comprehensive clinical services to students experiencing personal, social, emotional, behavioral, and academic concerns.

Provide individual psychotherapy, group therapy, couples therapy, crisis intervention, assessment, initial consultation, and appropriate referrals.
Assess and intervene with students experiencing a range of mental health concerns and levels of psychological distress.
Respond to mental health crises on campus when Counseling Services' clinical knowledge and intervention are needed.
Provide consultation to concerned students, faculty, staff, and, when appropriate, parents regarding student mental health concerns.
Develop and facilitate groups, workshops, and presentations addressing students' emotional and psychosocial needs.
Create and deliver strategic outreach programming to university groups, organizations, departments, and other campus constituencies.
Support faculty and staff through educational and programmatic consultation related to student concerns, conflict resolution, group dynamics, and remediation planning.
Assist with instruction of UNIV 333: Dynamics of Peer Leadership.
Maintain applicable professional licensure and certifications and participate in continuing education and professional development.
Participate in the department's after-hours crisis response rotation and other crisis-response responsibilities as assigned.
 
Coordination of Clinical Programming – 30%
Provides leadership and coordination for clinical programs and interventions responsive to the identified needs of the university's student population.

Develop, implement, and coordinate clinical programs addressing identified student mental health needs, including individual, group, psychoeducational, and targeted intervention services.
Utilize Counseling Services data, student needs, current research, and emerging trends to identify opportunities for new or expanded clinical programming.
Research and recommend evidence-based interventions, clinical practices, programs, and resources that enhance the quality and scope of Counseling Services.
Develop and coordinate group counseling and psychoeducational programming based on identified areas of student need.
Establish appropriate protocols, procedures, resources, and materials for clinical and psychoeducational groups.
Support staff members serving as group facilitators and assist with the development and implementation of effective group programming.
Coordinate targeted mental health screenings and early-intervention initiatives based on presenting concerns, utilization trends, campus needs, and current research.
Establish appropriate follow-up and referral procedures associated with screening and early-intervention initiatives.
Evaluate clinical programs using outcome measures, utilization data, student feedback, and other appropriate assessment methods.
Analyze program outcomes and provide recommendations for the continuation, modification, expansion, or development of clinical services.
Collaborate with Counseling Services staff and appropriate campus partners to integrate clinical programming with the broader mental health needs of the student population.
 
Program Support, Assessment, and Related Responsibilities – 10%
Assist with the coordination and promotion of Counseling Services programs, resources, and services.
Support programming related to Alcohol and Other Drug Education and services associated with the restorative justice model of Student Conduct.
Utilize assessment, analysis, and available Counseling Services data to support program planning and evaluation.
Assist with marketing, communication, event planning, and creative promotion of Counseling Services programs and resources.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical and program documentation using departmental technology and systems.
Participate in Counseling Services staff meetings, professional development, departmental planning, and other activities necessary to support the effective operation of the department.
Perform other duties consistent with the purpose and responsibilities of the position as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree or degree candidate in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related mental health field.
Hold or be working toward an appropriate State of Louisiana professional counseling or psychology license.
Demonstrated clinical skills in assessment and intervention with a range of presenting concerns and levels of psychological distress.
Ability to provide effective individual, group, and couples counseling services.
Experience or demonstrated competency in crisis assessment and intervention.
Strong interpersonal, oral communication, and written communication skills.
Ability to organize, schedule, coordinate, and evaluate clinical programs and services.
Demonstrated ability to use technology to support clinical services, documentation, communication, and program development.
Ability to participate in after-hours crisis response and provide presentations outside regular office activities as required.

Strong consultation and collaboration skills when working with students, faculty, staff, and campus partners.
Knowledge and experience related to substance use concerns and Alcohol and Other Drug Education.
Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to balance direct clinical responsibilities and program coordination.
Competency with technology used for clinical documentation, assessment, communication, presentations, websites, social media, and creative program promotion.
Ability to communicate effectively through speaking, listening, and professional writing.
 
Essential Functions
The Counselor/Coordinator of Clinical Programming must be able to provide effective clinical services to students presenting with a range of mental health concerns; assess and respond appropriately to crisis situations; facilitate individual, couples, and group interventions; develop and coordinate clinical programs; communicate effectively with diverse university constituencies; utilize technology to enhance services; organize and manage multiple clinical and programmatic responsibilities; and participate in after-hours crisis response and presentations as required.
