Job Summary:
Goshen College invites applications for a full-time appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor of Nursing. This position requires that the applicant be a licensed Family Nurse Practitioner. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to guide the curriculum of this graduate program under the guidance of NONPF criteria and maintain the program's accreditation standards while adapting to the AACN’s level two competency-based model of nursing education.
Essential Functions: (Core Job Responsibilities)
The director of the MSN program has the following responsibilities in alignment with the National Task Force, 2022, Standards for quality nurse practitioner
education:
1. Guides the Master’s of Science in Nursing program in adherence to the
policies and procedures for accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate
Nursing Education (CCNE), the American Association of Colleges of
Nursing (AACN), and the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner
Faculties (NONPF).
2. Facilitates curriculum coordination and planning for the graduate program.
3. Serves as chair of the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) sub-committee
or designee.
4. Recommends to the department chair all courses to be taught in the
Master’s program.
5. Collaborates with the department chair to determine faculty loads and to
set FTE goals.
6. Participates in policy development related to the running and functioning of the MSN program within the nursing department, in collaboration with the MSN sub-committee and the Chair.
This is an exempt position. The director of the master’s program in nursing is appointed by the president upon recommendation by the dean. This recommendation generally reflects department consensus. The appointment is continuous, dependent on satisfactory performance. This position functions as a program director with the authority granted within that role. They are responsible for the decision-making for their program of study and are to execute their expertise in that field in collaboration with the Chair of the department.
The position includes both internal and external engagement, for example:
Collaborates and coordinates the contracts and other responsibilities related to clinical agencies utilized in the graduate program, and may delegate portions of this work to other appropriate nursing faculty.
Serves as the point of contact for this program with outside entities.
Represents the graduate program in nursing to clinical agencies and provides oversight to student activities with agency personnel.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Provides supervision of the graduate faculty, offering input into evaluations, load, and clinical site supervisions, less than 5 graduate faculty
Provides direct supervision of a certified nurse practitioner carrying a different speciality certification, if additional master’s level tracks are developed in the future.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
Must be doctorally prepared or willing to enroll and complete a doctorate
in nursing practice or an equivalent doctoral degree, within three years of
hire.
Teaching experience or leadership experience preferred
Commitment to working with diverse populations
Commitment to the mission and core values of Goshen College
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
Must hold a credentialing certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
Maintains currency in practice (at the minimum level of clinical hours) in
accordance with their accrediting body.
Unencumbered Indiana Nursing license
