- Health Sciences Librarian
Description
Serves as librarian liaison to students and faculty learning and teaching in the Health Sciences courses. Offers bibliographic instruction to students, especially students of Nursing and Allied Health, Basic Health Sciences, Public Health and Nutrition, Occupational Therapy, and Pre-Med. Works with collection development in these areas. Responsible to the Director of Reference/Public Service.
Basic Responsibilities:
A. Offers reference and instructional services to all students as needed. Serves as primary reference and instructional librarian for health sciences departments and courses.
B. Has primary responsibility for Collection Development in health sciences.
1. Selects materials for purchases, working with faculty and other librarians.
2. Supervises the weeding and evaluation of gift books in the subject field.
C. Participate in the Library’s instructional programs, especially first-year seminar and new student orientation programs.
D. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Reference/Public Service
Requirements
ACU is affiliated with the fellowship of the Church of Christ. This position requires the employee to be a professing Christian and be an active, faithful member of a congregation of the Churches of Christ.
1. Master’s degree from an American Library Association-accredited library science program
2. Additional undergraduate or graduate degree in a health sciences or natural sciences field strongly preferred.
3. High level of interpersonal communication skills.
4. Teaching and/or library experience preferred.
