Job Title: HIGH SCHOOL CHEMISTRY TEACHER 1.0 FTE
Deliver engaging, high-quality standards-aligned science instruction using effective, research-based instructional practices that meet diverse learning needs at the high school level. This role includes collaborating with families and colleagues, planning and teaching integrated science content, using assessment data to inform instruction, supporting Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) structures, and incorporating technology to enhance engagement.
Qualifications:
- State of Michigan Teaching Certification (required) - Chemistry (IC or DC, preferred), or IP, DP, DQ, DI, DX, IE, or DE endorsements
- Experience teaching high school science students (preferred)
- Experience engaging high school students in hands-on, inquiry-based investigations that emphasize the concepts of chemistry and evidence-based reasoning (preferred)
- Experience in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) & Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies (PBIS)
- Deep understanding of core and advanced concepts, including stoichiometry, chemical kinetics, equilibrium, thermodynamics, and atomic structure, to scaffold learning for on-level classes and drive rigor in honors sections
- Proficiency in teaching the applied mathematical foundations of chemistry, including dimensional analysis, algebraic manipulation, logarithms, and graphical analysis
- Experience developing and utilizing a variety of assessments to inform teaching

- Comprehensive knowledge of safety standards, proper hazardous waste disposal, chemical storage protocols, and emergency response
- Ability to work cooperatively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators

- Ability to foster curiosity and a growth mindset by encouraging questioning, problem-solving, collaboration, and real-world connections to scientific concepts

- Excellent organizational and communication skills (written, verbal, and listening skills)

- Successful classroom management strategies and skills
- Willingness and ability to maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance
- Ability to complete other duties as assigned

Rate: Per Contract Salary Schedule
