Reports to: Building Principal
Major Responsibilities:
1. Effectively support and implement district/building philosophies and goals
2. Uphold a growth mindset which contributes by providing solutions
3. Communicate and collaborate in a team-oriented and respectful manner with all stakeholders (students, staff, parents, and administration)
4. Follows all professional guidelines and expectations of building and district administration
5. Grow and maintain our collective effort to uphold strong, kind, and committed actions and decisions for all students, especially students with adverse childhood experiences
6. Possess a relentless effort to have a classroom environment where all students have belonging
7. Takes a leadership role and responsibility in facilitating the Highly Capable program for students, their families, and the school district.
8. Maintain records, complete reports, and conduct all necessary actions for the Highly Capable Program as determined by the school and district administration
9. Teaches skills and knowledge to necessary for students to be successful in all academic content areas
10. Aligns curriculum to adopted state and national standards
11. Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter as specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district
12. Provides opportunities for individualized and small group instruction order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of all students
13. Provides for safe storage and proper use of materials, equipment, and tools. Makes minor adjustments and requests repairs to equipment when required
14. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed for a productive learning environment during class sessions, laboratory sessions, and field trips
15. Identifies student needs, and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping solve health, attitude, and learning problems
16. Evaluates each student’s growth, knowledge, and skills in course(s) being taught
17. Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned school day
18. Requisitions books, instructional materials, and instructional aides; maintains required inventory records
19. Assists students in selection and development of individual research projects
20. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by district and/or self-selected professional growth activities
21. Conduct regular meetings with parents, staff, and administration throughout the school year.
22. Communicates with students, parents, and school counselor on student progress
23. Implements highly capable program according to state rules and regulations and continue to keep abreast of changes.
24. Participates in staff committees and sponsorship of student activities
25. Participates as an active member of a school Professional Learning Community (PLC)
26. Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs and the selection and evaluation of instructional equipment and materials
27. Incorporates technology in teaching and learning
28. Perform other related duties as assigned by building principal
Requirements
Qualifications:
1. Must possess Washington State Teaching Certification with K-8 Elementary Education endorsement.
2. Must favorably pass the Washington State Patrol/FBI background check.
3. Demonstrated success by training/experience which recognizes all children as learners.
4. Ability to communicate with staff, students, parents and community patrons.
5. Demonstrated ability to work as an effective member of building and grade level PLCs.
6. Must demonstrate flexibility in scheduling, grouping, and working with and in all grade levels with students and staff.
