The Middlebury College Summer Arabic School is pleased to announce a vacancy for a temporary Instructor of Arabic. The position is available during the summer 2018 session, located on the campus of Mills College in California. Our unique 8-week program combines a cultural immersion environment with rigorous daily classroom instruction. This is an opportunity to join a community of learners by actively engaging in teaching, dining, residing and recreating with students while reading, writing and speaking exclusively in Arabic.

We are looking for a faculty member who has experience teaching Arabic as a second or foreign language, and experience in teaching aspects of Arab culture and society. This may include poetry, literature, art, music, etc.



Qualifications
The successful candidate should possess a MA or PhD (ABD with strong credentials may also be considered), strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrated success working as a member of an instructional team. A candidate with a creative, dynamic, and easy-going approach will be an excellent fit with the Arabic School.

Candidates should submit:

1. A letter of application in which they briefly summarize their teaching philosophy and how they will contribute to the Arabic school;
2. A current curriculum vitae (c.v.);
3. Three letters of recommendation;
4. Recent statistical information from student evaluations;
5. An original copy of their last degree transcript;
6. An official translation of the original copy of the candidate's last degree transcript if the document is issued in a language other than English.

Application deadline is January 30, but the position will remain open until filled. This position is for summer of 2018.
