K-12 Music Education Teacher
The Odessa School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated K–12 Music Teacher to lead and grow a vibrant music program that serves as a cornerstone of our school and community. In Odessa, music is more than a class—it is a source of pride, tradition, and connection.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching in a K–12 or small district/small community setting.
CPR/First Aid/AED certification (or ability to obtain).
Experience integrating technology into instruction.
Coaching experience and/or willingness to coach.
Required Knowledge & Skills
Strong classroom and behavior management skills within a range of K-12 students.
Ability to organize and manage equipment and facilities effectively.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Commitment to promoting lifelong fitness and healthy lifestyle habits.

Requirements
Essential Responsibilities
Develop and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate Music education curriculum aligned to the Washington State K–12 Learning Standards.
Participate in professional development and school improvement efforts.
Support extracurricular and co-curricular activities as part of a team-oriented staff.
Supervise students during performances, travel, and school events.
Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs, including students with IEPs and 504 plans.
Maintain a safe and structured environment in gymnasium, outdoor, and classroom settings.
Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
Collaborate with colleagues in a K–12 setting to ensure vertical alignment and program consistency.
Supervise students during assigned duties and potentially coach extracurricular athletics (preferred but not required).
Maintain accurate records in compliance with district and state requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with endorsement in:
Music Education K-12 or equivalent
Knowledge of Washington State Music Education Standards.
Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students and families.
Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching practices.
