Description
The Lead Teacher serves as the instructional leader of one of our Children's House classrooms (ages 2½ to 6), fostering a nurturing, prepared environment grounded in Montessori philosophy. This role provides thoughtful educational leadership that supports the development of the whole child-academically, socially, and emotionally-through the intentional use of Montessori materials and practices.The Lead Teacher is responsible for the design, organization, and ongoing care of the classroom environment, ensuring it is orderly, engaging, and conducive to independence, concentration, and joyful learning, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and security. Through careful observation and individualized lesson planning, the Lead supports each child's unique developmental path, incorporating presentation, practice, repetition, and assessment to guide students toward mastery.
Working in close partnership with the Teacher Assistant and other support staff, the Lead Guide cultivates a respectful and collaborative classroom community, modeling positive guidance and effective classroom leadership. The role also includes collaboration with colleagues across programs to support continuity, mentorship, and a strong sense of community within the school.
As an active member of the school community, the Lead Teacher participates in shared responsibilities such as lunch and recess supervision, and contributes to a culture aligned with the mission and values of Spruce Tree Montessori School. Serving as both educator and ambassador, Lead Teachers uphold and advance the school's vision while fostering meaningful connections with students, families, and colleagues.

For candidates who enroll children at our school, tuition remission is offered based on years of service starting at 50%.
