Position Title: Lecturer in Christian Ministry and Director of Certificate in Ministry
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of the position. These statements are not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required of personnel so classified.
Position Overview:
The full-time employee is responsible to the Associate Provost. Under his/her direction, the employee is responsible for recruiting and advising students and course and curriculum input as a member of the full-time faculty. The position also provides leadership in the classroom environment through teaching 18-21 hours per academic year. Must live near a physical SCS location (Corpus Christi or McAllen, TX) or be willing to move to a physical SCS location upon acceptance of the job.
Position Core:
- Serve as a faculty member teaching eighteen to twenty-one hours per academic year, including undergraduate and graduate courses in the candidate’s area of specialization;
- Provide administrative leadership as the Director of Certificate in Ministry, including the oversight of recruitment, advising, course scheduling, and curriculum development;
- Build relationships with local churches and associations to improve the admissions funnel for the Certificate program;
- Maintain active engagement in the field through ongoing research, scholarship, and, where appropriate, publication;
- Participate in institutional life, including recruitment initiatives, college and seminary events, and service to local churches and the broader community;
- Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
Position Competencies:
- Earned doctorate (PhD, ThD, or DMin) in Christian Ministry, Biblical Studies, Theology, or a related field (ABD candidates near completion may be considered);
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level; ability to teach effectively in both classroom and online modalities;
- Ten years of experience vocational ministry;
- Demonstrated capacity for ongoing research and scholarship appropriate to the institution’s mission;
- Excellent verbal and written communication;
- Computer literacy—Apple OS, SiS Database, and Google Applications;
- Bilingual preferred.
