Job Description
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Under direct supervision, the PT Staff Assistant II, Recreational Sports supports the daily operations of recreational programs, facilities, and community activities. This role assists with program setup, participant engagement, customer service, and maintaining a safe and clean, and welcoming environment for all students and faculty, and staff
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Greet and assist students, faculty, staff, vendors, and program participants
- Support the setup and breakdown of recreational activities, events, and classes
- Monitor recreation areas to ensure safety, cleanliness, and proper equipment use
- Enforce facility rules, policies, and guidelines in a friendly, professional manner
- Provide information about programs, schedules, and activities
- Assist with program registration, participant check-ins, and records
- Lead or support recreational activities such as sports, fitness classes, arts, youth programs, or special events as assigned
- Report maintenance needs, safety concerns, or incidents promptly
- Help maintain equipment, supplies, and facility cleanliness
- Performs other reasonable, related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
- Organizational skills
- Ability to effectively convey information by telephone, in written form, e-mail or in person
- Knowledge of fitness equipment
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Basic computer skills for check-in or scheduling systems
- Ability to lift equipment or set up activity spaces
- General safety awareness
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
- Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
- Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience working in a recreational setting
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within first 30 days of hire
Salary
Hourly Pay Rate is $15.92
