The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a postdoctoral associate in yeast genetics and genomics, to begin 1/1/2027. Applicants must have a background in genetics, genomics, and molecular biology with a PhD in biology or applicable field. The successful candidate will work with members of the Kaplan laboratory to study gene expression mechanisms and develop new approaches for the genome-wide analysis of the RNA polymerase II transcription cycle and single nucleotide resolution. Minimum requirements include experience with manipulation of yeast strains, molecular cloning, experimental design and analysis, and genomics including informatic analyses of genomic experiments; preferred qualifications include experience with command line packages, R, and python. Duties include preparation and writing of manuscripts, attendance at weekly internal and shared group meetings, presentation of data at lab meetings and scientific conferences, and the curation of data for submission to public databases. Molecular, genomic, organization, and communication skills are essential.
