Position Purpose
This position focuses on increasing access to Evergreen education inside carceral settings, with the specific goal to initiate and lead program implementation and operations for the Evergreen Prison Education Program (EPEP), which offers Evergreen’s Bachelor of Arts degree within prisons.
This position is responsible for 1) supervising EPEP student staff, interns, and volunteers as needed and supporting Evergreen faculty working in the Bachelor’s degree program; 2) leading and managing student recruitment and admissions, supporting staff leading academic and financial aid advising, and providing direct student support services to currently incarcerated Evergreen Bachelor’s degree students; 3) leading administrative tasks, including data collection, budgeting, and reporting for the Evergreen degree program and providing support to EPEP Co-Directors to sustain programs, manage EPEP tracking, reporting, and evaluation, and contribute to funding proposals and budgeting processes; 4) developing collaborations with education and community organizations and building and maintaining relationships with college offices (Admissions, Financial Aid, Registration, Marketing, Library Services, and Student Success, including Access Services, Academic and Career Advising, Student Wellness Services, Student Activities, etc.); and 5) in coordination with Co-Directors, develop and update annual program spending plans and maintain purchase tracking information.
This is a full-time, overtime eligible position on the Olympia campus of The Evergreen State College and in Washington carceral facilities. This position is an “at-will” appointment, exempt from Washington State Civil Service rules.
Salary and Benefits: $5,286 – $6,341 per month of full-time work + excellent benefits including paid sick and vacation leave; paid campus holidays; a generous medical, dental, life and disability insurance package for employees and dependents; retirement; optional deferred compensation and optional supplemental retirement accounts.
