Newport High School 1.0 FTE (Continuing Contract) Spanish Teacher
(Preference given for candidates with multiple endorsements)
Reports to: Building Principal
Major Responsibilities:
1. Implement district/building philosophies and goals
2. Teaches skills and knowledge to necessary for students to be successful
3. Aligns curriculum to adopted state and national standards
4. Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter as specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district
5. Provides opportunities for individualized and small group instruction order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of all students
6. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed for a productive learning environment during class sessions and field trips
7. Identifies student needs, and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping solve health, attitude, and learning problems
8. Evaluates each student’s growth, knowledge, and skills in course(s) being taught
9. Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned school day
10. Requisitions books, instructional materials and instructional aides; maintains required inventory records
11. Assists students in selection and development of individual research projects
12. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by district and/or self-selected professional growth activities
13. Communicates with students, parents, and school counselor on student progress
14. Participates in staff committees and sponsorship of student activities
15. Participates as an active member of a school Professional Learning Community (PLC)
16. Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs and the selection and evaluation of instructional equipment and materials
17. Incorporates technology in teaching and learning
18. Perform other related duties as required by building principal
Requirements
Qualifications
1. Must possess a Washington State Teaching Certificate or able to obtain certification prior to the start of school.
2. Must favorably pass the Washington State Patrol/FBI background check
Terms of Employment:
This is a 1.0 FTE continuing teaching position. Salary is based upon placement on the state salary schedule. All hiring and seniority rights are contingent upon school board approval.
