Summary:
The School of Public Management & Policy is seeking an Assistant Professor to support our MPA/MPP programs beginning August 16, 2027. Required qualifications for the position include a doctorate in public policy, public administration, political science, or a related field. Teaching responsibilities include 3 courses per semester in the MPA program and/or MPP, and BPNA programs. Preference will be given to applicants who can offer graduate courses such as data science, statistics, economics, and community planning and economic development. Salary is competitive and dependent on qualifications. Experience in online teaching is desirable.
This is a full-time on-campus tenure-track academic appointment. UIS tenure-system faculty are expected to be available and engaged in the campus community, with assigned professional responsibilities for teaching, scholarship, and service.

Requirements
Duties & Responsibilities:
Teaching: Courses to be taught include, but are not limited to - PAD 507 Information for Decision Making, a required core course for the MPA program, an elective course for the MPP&DPA programs; PAD 508 Economics and Public Policy, a required core course for the MPP program, and elective course for the MPA&DPA programs; PAD 526 Advanced Analytical Tools: Forecasting, Time Series Analysis, and Predictive Analytics, an elective course for the MPA, MPP&DPA programs; and PAD 554 Community Planning Tools, a required Community Planning graduate certificate course.
Scholarship: Demonstrate a record of effective performance and accomplishment, according to the criteria for scholarship provided for in Article 3 of the UIS Faculty Personnel Policy.
Service: Demonstrate a record of effective performance and accomplishment, according to the criteria for service provided for in Article 3 of the UIS Faculty Personnel Policy.
Minimum Qualifications:
Earned doctorate in public policy, public administration, political science, or a related field
Ability and willingness to teach graduate courses in various areas of public management and policy
Evidence of teaching effectiveness
Evidence of scholarship productivity
Experience and/or willingness to teach in an online degree program
A commitment to addressing inclusion in the classroom and preparing students to address inclusion in the workforce and community
Preferred Qualifications:
