- Tenure-Track Faculty - Orthodontics
Description
The University of Iowa’s College of Dentistry is conducting a search for a full-time tenure-track faculty member in the Department of Orthodontics.
Major responsibilities include:
participate and provide didactic teaching in the undergraduate and graduate orthodontic programs;
oversee the treatment of patients in the orthodontics graduate clinic, including craniofacial anomalies and/or special needs patients;
teach undergraduate and graduate level courses;
treatment of private patients in the faculty practice; and
conduct and develop research/scholarly activity to advance the specialty.
The position is available August 31, 2026; screening begins immediately.
Applicants must have:
DDS/DMD or equivalent;
completion of a CODA-accredited advanced education program in Orthodontics;
an advanced research degree (PhD, DSc, ScD, or equivalent);
at least one-year clinical training/experience providing treatment for craniofacial anomalies in addition to completion of Orthodontic Residency; and
demonstrated scholarly/professional growth commensurate with time following completion of advanced degree.
Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any misconduct history or pending research misconduct investigation including but not limited to sexual misconduct in prior employment and provide a related release and will be subject to a criminal background and credential check.
Desirable qualifications:
Board Certification/Eligibility in Orthodontics;
demonstrated clinical competency in treating a large number of orthodontics patients including surgical orthodontics patients and patients with craniofacial anomalies;
demonstrated excellence in research as evidenced by publications in high impact peer reviewed journals; and
record of effective clinical and classroom teaching.
