Position Summary: The School of Health Sciences, in the College of Health and Human Sciences at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, is seeking applicants for an Assistant Lecturer position within the baccalaureate program in Radiologic Sciences, beginning August 11, 2026. This is a variable-time, term, renewable, non-tenure-track faculty position. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in the Radiologic Sciences program, as well as general allied health courses. Due to the newly established $100,000 fee for H-1B petitions requesting consular processing outside of the U.S., Southern Illinois University is unable to provide H-1B sponsorship at this time for any prospective applicant who is outside of the U.S. and requires consular processing.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity. Duties and Responsibilities: To provide direct classroom/laboratory/clinical instruction and office hours as assigned; teach via online and traditional delivery methods; participate in all program duties as described in accreditation standards, which include program assessment activities; lift phantoms in a laboratory setting and drive to clinical education sites; engage in other duties as determined by the Director of the School of Health Sciences; support and positively contribute to SIU’s mission of student success and retention through actions and responsibilities within this role.
Some travel will be expected to meet workload assignment, and a valid driver’s license is required.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
1) Bachelor’s degree in radiologic sciences and a master’s degree must be earned within two years of being hired. For individuals holding a bachelor’s degree, the appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Instructor. 2) Credentials in Radiography by the ARRT with advanced credentials in either MRI and CT. 3) At least nine months of work experience within the field of Radiologic Science.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in education, health, or a related field. Working experience within a JRCERT accredited program that documents teaching and supervisory experience with Radiologic Sciences students. Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as organizational and technology skills.
